'- Your requirements after enrolling with us will be: Registering as a homeschooler with your school district and submitting required paperwork throughout the year (Bridge Academy creates these documents for you, accessible inside the Parent Portal, so that all you must do is sign and submit them to the district). Standardized testing is required in certain grade levels (twice in middle grades and in each high school year), but we make it as easy and risk-free as possible! - New York state does not allow any virtual schools to be considered private schools in the state of NY, thus enrollment with Bridge Academy itself does not satisfy the compulsory attendance law. Bridge Academy must therefore operate in New York as an out of state virtual private school (umbrella school), offering support and documentation to homeschooling families. We have done extensive work to ensure that our students’ have minimal interruption to their personal learning, write all reports for parents, and offer proctoring of standardized tests in the few years where it is mandatory by the state. Overall, homeschooling with Bridge Academy takes away a LOT of the stress and pressure on our NY homeschooling families! - If your child has a current IEP, we will need a copy of this to add to your child’s file. Please be aware that because we are a virtual school, we cannot fulfill any support services that may currently be a part of your child’s plan (however, we find that most support needs that are required for a neurodiverse child in a classroom are often unnecessary once they are home and learning in a less restrictive environment). - While Bridge Academy does not ask for your child’s vaccine/medical information to have on file, some districts will require this information with your initial intent to homeschool. We recommend having this information on file personally just incase. - In New York, there is no specific state law stating that homeschoolers are allowed to do so - this is left up to the discretion of the individual local school. If this is something you desire, Bridge Academy will offer whatever documentation or support needed to help you make that request to the local school. - For high schoolers seeking work permits, Bridge Academy can provide these. Please reach out to acquire this application when needed.

submitting Letter of Intents, IHIP reports, quarterly reports, annual evaluations, and occasional standardized testing at certain grades - Bridge Academy creates the majority of these documents for you inside the Parent Portal so that all you must do is sign and submit them to the district (we allow for as much or as little personalization of these documents as the parents/students desire)
