Returning students, please read this important PA press release. - IMPORTANT: In order to operate as a private school in Pennsylvania, Bridge Academy must be accredited first. We are currently in the process of seeking this accreditation (set to be completed end of year), so until that is in place, all Bridge Academy students in PA must register as homeschoolers, using Bridge Academy as their umbrella school (meaning we can support you by handling your documentation, including your letters of intent and end of year evaluations). Once Bridge Academy receives our accreditation status, students will be considered private school students and will no longer need to register as homeschoolers. - If you are transferring your child from a public or private school, you will need to submit a withdrawal form to the school, as well as submit a records transfer request so that Bridge Academy can complete your child’s transfer. We have forms for these steps inside our Parent Portal that you can access once you have enrolled. - If your child has a current IEP, we will need a copy of this to add to your child’s file. Please be aware that because we are a virtual school, we cannot fulfill any support services that may currently be a part of your child’s plan (however, we find that most support needs that are required for a neurodiverse child in a classroom are often unnecessary once they are home and learning in a less restrictive environment). - While Bridge Academy does not ask for your child’s vaccine/medical information to have on file, you are required to submit records or proof of exemption the first time you file notice with the state. They may also be required to participate in public school interscholastic activities or sports, so we recommend keeping these on file personally. - In Pennsylvania, state law states that homeschoolers are allowed to participate in local public school sports or interscholastic activities at the discretion of the individual local school. There is no law about whether or not this is true for private school students, and will also be at the discretion of the school. If this is something you desire, Bridge Academy will offer whatever documentation or support needed to help you make that request to the local school.
